Kamalayan Konsciouness
A creative collective that looks to inspire and empower the diaspora of Filipinos and other immigrants.
Initially joined as an attendee, I created an exhibition piece that speaks to my identity as a Filipino.
Later on, I became more involved with the organization, designing marketing collateral and facilitating workshops about linocutting and Filipino mythology.
EXHIBITION
An early concept of a project I have, this art piece is based on the merchandise Filipinos proudly wear, but the diasporic community sees in shame. A challenge to this was creating informative merchandise that brings light into Filipino people who have made an impact in the world.
KK, IT'S NOT JUST A MYTH
Working with the organization, we came to develop a series of workshops teaching the history behind common mythological creatures in Filipino culture. I then illustrated some of these common creatures as a reference for attendees to use when they illustrate their own monster in linocutting. These monster designs were then used in the marketing for all the workshops and the exhibit as a whole.
